Overview

Halebeedu, the ancient capital of the Hoysala Empire, is home to the awe-inspiring Hoysaleswara and Shanthaleswara Temples — twin shrines that stand as a testament to the artistic genius of 12th-century craftsmen. Every inch of the exterior is covered in an astounding sequence of friezes: elephants, horses, scrolling foliage, scenes from the epics, and celestial beings rendered in exquisite soapstone. Our historian guide will decode the layered narratives carved into these walls and share the fascinating history of the Hoysala dynasty. The adjacent archaeological museum houses sculptures recovered from the site, adding further depth to the visit.
